The last week or so…

Here's a round-out for the projects I've worked on the last week or so – I'll probably have to blog about a few of these

1) Solarwinds Orion NPM 9.1

  • Updated to v9.1 Service Pack 4
  • Rebuilt our list of "core" devices to monitor – firewalls, routing switches, primary connectivity interface to each of our campuses
  • Prepped and whiteboarded the next few things to add – some core servers

2) Terminal Server 2008

  • Deployed from template  – Server 2008 Enterprise x64
  • Added Terminal Server role
  • Added Terminal Server gateway role (plus IIS goodies)
  • Licensed same
  • Installed SSL cert on same (from internal CA)
  • Installed a bunch of useful "core" apps primarily for our Mac-heads who lost IE but need ActiveX-based web tools to do business
  • Tested TS (base)
  • Tested TS Gateway (flawless)

3) Cisco 6509 Install

  • We were given (donated / free) a Cisco 6509 a while back.  Just this past week I finalized the baseline install, and now need to get it ready for deploy.
  • Installed 2x 64meg ATA Cards for IOS boot
  • Installed 12.2 train IOS
  • tested 2x Sup2u+MSFC2, 2x 48-port gigabit non-poe, 1x 48-port gigabit poe, 1x 8-port GBIC, 3x 48-port 10/100 poe blades – all flawless
  • Prep for HSRP configuration with Cisco 4507 – the 6509 stays at Central Datacenter, the 4507 goes to our DR Datacenter – both connected via Gigabit MetroE (turn up scheduled for late March)

4) DR Storage

  • More details soon – 108TB SATA/SAS iSCSI storage for replicating our XSAN data + EMC Core ESX VI3.5 data

That's enough… more odds and ends along the way of course…
